Breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs not so ... very dry and unpleasant to eat. AC in room was weak and hard to control. Could not get below 25°C.
Excellent location.
Rooms need an update. But be was very comfortable !

Unfortunately no longer recommended for brunch or breakfast.

For 10 years we enjoyed having an aperitif or brunch on the beautiful terrace or in the entrance area every now and then, somewhat exclusive but still just affordable. That is no longer possible. Instead of telling us this directly upon arrival, we were informed differently, mostly incorrectly - by various service and bar staff, as well as the reception staff. We were sent from the terrace to the former breakfast room and to the entrance area, only to find out after half an hour that "today" neither brunch
nor breakfast can be served. Impossible, this service!

I understand that the old furniture adds to the feel of the old hotel but it could use sprucing up especially the mattress that is very uncomfortable. After all the main reasons for staying there is to sleep.

Everything we needed for our 4 day Christmas sort break

Convenient hotel for out stay to visit the Christmas markets. Ideal having the trams and the main train station just outside the hotel. Travel on the trams is free and we were given a card by the hotel reception to confirm this. Staff really helpful and knowledgeable when asking questions

Nice older hotel with great location

We stayed two days as an extension before our river cruise with friends. An architecturally interesting older hotel (named after a famous locally born scientist) but with nice upgrades and amenities. The bathroom was updated with nice fixtures, the bedding was new and very comfortable, and I appreciated the in-room espresso. We were on the fourth floor and it was quiet. Personnel were all friendly and helpful. The location is great for getting on the local trams and trains and restaurants within easy and safe walking distance. I didn’t see any US electrical outlets in the room (not surprising) so bring your converter plugs. Breakfast buffet had many options and was good.
