Worth it!

Very inexpensive and is really nice!
It has a swimming pool, kitchen with free coffee. And a place to buy beer. There are supermarkets nearby and you can safely park your vehicle.
Highly recommend it to others, especially backpackers or people on a budget!

Sweet paradise, convenient location to airport

I booked one night in a 8 bed dorm at Bambu Hostel the night before my flight to PTY. The hostel is in a great location and had a chance to meet Gregg from Brooklyn, who is quite the renaissance man. He employs volunteers to keep the kingdom in top shape. Some are more socially awkward than others. I would say he’s a bit forgetful but does take kindly to reminders. Greg also went out of his way to help me as I misplaced my passport. Customer service was 100% in what could have been a very stressful situation. Thank you, sir.
This place is the exact opposite of where I stayed in Boquete. Which is a relief.
The WiFi works completely and throughout the property.
Beds are comfortable with private curtains, nice feature.
Place is reasonably clean and well maintained.
Kitchen is fully stocked, maybe could be a bit more organized and cleaner. I recommend to clean as you cook.
AC is on in dorms from 8-8 I think. Just cool enough which is nice to sleep in.
Dorm room is a little tight but all good.
Pool is amazing.
There is a sleeping barn/shelter with maybe 8 beds too which is very cool. I personally wouldn’t be able to sleep there with the ambient sounds at night but others would enjoy it.
Coolest thing about Gregg’s hostel resort is the $1 beers and the animal kingdom he created. The anteater is still wild but she is comfortable around guests. Gregg says “Pet at your own risk”. There is a small army of cats that snooze around the property. I don’t believe they are allowed in the dorms?
Place is a tad pricier than the other hostels in David but the key features of Bambu align with most travel needs. Just be careful of the South American gypsies.

Average stay, owner

I stayed at Bambu Hostel and rated it honestly. The facilities are old, the kitchen was filthy and I found that my room was unswept. I wasn't expecting a five-star hotel but I did expect a clean private room.
Mostly importantly, THE OWNER USED MY PHONE NUMBER TO SEND ME A DOZEN ANGRY MESSAGES REPEATEDLY CALLING ME NAMES and threatening to speak to my "employer and everybody I know". He was extremely angry and vindictive, STEER CLEAR of this one.

I spend a very good time there!

Hola! I stayed 3 nights in this hostel! I really enjoyed my stay there. We do not believe in David, the garden is planted with trees, a pool, a lounge area with TV. The kitchen is a simple hostel kitchen, so the necessary to prepare food. I was lucky because there were only a few people in the hostel! The psiicne is top and clean! I had a very good welcome from the boss and 2 volunteers, they were very simpa! I really felt like home! The dormitory is small but no matter because there are curtains to separate from the other beds, I slept very well and the air conditioning at night is cool! After that, I think that everyone feels, according to their personality, what they are looking for and whether the staff changes from year to year. Thank you for this pleasant stay among you!

Great communal spaces

I desperately wish I knew the name of the staff member who checked us in, because she was So. Awesome. The staff are friendly and helpful, and one of them makes a hell of a pupusa. The rooms are spacious, but really need a new coat of paint and some refurbishing. The pool is so refreshing! The bar only sells $1 bottles of national beer, but there are big supermarkets nearby, and the kitchen is the heart of the hostel. Great place to spend a night or two. Also, the coati running around the grounds can't help but make you smile.
