5* Hotel!!
I can't understand how this isn't a 5* Hotel.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which we absolutely loved. It was perfect and had everything we could need and more.
The swimming pool was stunning and we used this nearly every night.
We ate at O'Learys most nights and loved each meal!
We cannot wait to come back again!!

Disapointment
Booked a superior room for easter. No fridge/minibar at all. Only glasses available are for washing the teeth. Tv shows 5 channels, no international channels. No chromecast. Room on the first floor, no light curtains. You must close the curtains completely if do not want bypassers to see the room. Had to pay robes, slippers. There is a spa, must pay bench covers for sauna.
So everything costs extra, no idea what superior means. The room is renovated, with poor taste. Do not expect anything extra from this place. Have not yet tasted the breakfast. Expectations are not very high.

Beautiful, with limits
This complex, vast holiday club we reached from the west then along the parable of the polar circle that descends eastward along Karelia, along the Russian border which, precisely, in summer, is the most beautiful wild region integrates, in short, a true paradise of taiga woods lakes and rivers. Long but comfortable journey stage because there is very little traffic, the well-maintained roads, the enchanted landscape. We have not seen bears but met many REINDEER with cubs in tow. Unfazed by our passage, majestic with their strides, intent on running along green meadows. In this territory more reindeer than humans. Finally in the Holiday complex where, placed in our large room on the fourth floor, with panoramic views of the lake, I went on a reconnaissance of the place, including the golf course. That's quite a roundabout. A small bath in the muddy waters, a ride through the gentle slopes. So why such a low score of 3 balls that does not mean average. In fact, the complex is luxurious, especially beautiful but at 21:00 you can no longer dine or get snacks. Finally, the dealer shut the shutter in our face while we asked for the time... The bar wasn't open either. You can't just replace yourself for breakfast! Europeans on the continent have more flexible and versatile habits.

Family fun in the snow
We had a great stay here as a family. Yes bits of it look a bit tired cosmetically but it was very clean and comfy, always warm and the staff were friendly. Rooms were really spacious. Lots of choice at buffet breakfast. Pool entertained the kids and great that we could take them in the sauna/steam room too. Loved the free sleds provided to enjoy playing in the snow.
Underfloor heating in the bathroom worked a treat at drying swim wear and wet snow boots etc overnight.
Only slight let down was that the “hot drink making facility” advertised was a single kettle hiding in the wardrobe - no spoons or mugs etc. but we borrowed some from breakfast, and if you had your own reusable cup you could take an extra hot drink with you from breakfast. Nowhere to refrigerate milk.
Nearby Herkku cafe was good value for sandwiches (recommend the reindeer flatbread wrap) and amazing pastries. Everything was written in Finnish but staff spoke perfect English.

5 Start - Absolutely Fantastic
We travelled to Holiday Cub mid/late December 2024 as part of the TUI package as a family of 4 – 2 adults, 14 year old and 11 year old.
I will stick to the actual hotel although the overall TUI Lapland holiday would also get 5-star rating as well.
The hotel itself is very modern. The staff are fantastic. Easily the best holidays I’ve had in the last 10-15 years.
ROOM
We stayed in one of the annex blocks which is around a 5 min walk from the main hotel. Each annex block has around 12 apartments, 6 GF and 6 FF. we were on the first floor but absolutely fine. The apartment had 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, (the main bathroom had a built in 2-person sauna), living room and kitchen.
The place was fully kitted out and had a washing machine, dish washer, large drying cupboard, hair dryer, kettle, microwave, log burner, along with everything you need including plates, cups, mugs, cutlery etc.
The apartment had a terrace which was sort of enclosed and had a BBQ / grille although we didn’t use this during our stay.
The apartment had underfloor heating which made the space warm (maybe too warm) but was quite nice after spending all day in the snow. We didn’t use the log burner during our stay.
GROUNDS
Around the hotel is fantastic. Picturesque. We found so many areas to take sledges and go on an adventure. If you’ve just come out of the main reception head left.
There's a hill right there or carry on towards the two large chimney looking things which is part of the golf course. This was one of the highlights for us. We loved hurtling down these 20-30-40ft snowy hills for hours. But was exhausting as well so took a bag full of drinks and snacks and took it all in.
FOOD
We were half board for 3 nights and the food was superb. Breakfast was decent and had a variety of sausages, scrambled egg, bacon, toast, pastries, cereal, juices, fruit, porridge, pancakes etc every day. Pretty much the same all 3 days and was perfect to fill up ready for the day of adventures.
We also really enjoyed the evening meals here too. Buffet style. Every night there are breads, soups, salads, pastas etc and then 4 main dishes plus a kids selection, as well as some tasty deserts:
First night – salmon, southern fried chicken strips, wedges, rice. Kids was chicken nuggets and chips.
Second night – meatballs, deep fried cod, roast potatoes, veg mix. Kids was sausages and chips.
Third night – southern fired chicken breast, meatballs in sauce, slow cooked beef in gravy, roast potatoes. Kids was chicken nuggets and chips.
The food was all very tasty, warm, plentiful and above expectations. Perfect for all of us who aren’t particularly fussy but have kids who like what they like and wont try anything exotic.
We didn’t eat in the O’Leary’s bar but did see the food in there when having drinks and looked nice, and not too expensive from the menu. We are happy we went half board. A round of drinks (beer, malibu, 2 cokes) was 28 euros.
SWIMMING POOL
We used the swimming pool every day. Its open 12-8pm which was perfect for us. We had morning excursions generally arriving back to the hotel around 1pm ish, then a few hours sledging / exploring, swimming around 5pm, dinner around 7pm. Perfect!
The pool is superb. Has a decent slide (14 and 11 year olds loved it) with a timer to try and beat your score. 3-4 hot tubs, lazy river, waterfall. It was quite dark and lit with fairy lights and colour changing LEDs which looked fantastic. A lot like centre parcs in the UK. Water temp was around 30 C.
In the changing area they have plunge pools (11-12 C) plus a large sauna and steam room.
SHOP
There is an onsite shop which sells drinks (alcohol and soft drinks), sweets, snacks (a small selection of pastries, sandwiches etc), and essentials such as tooth brush, shower get / soap, tooth paste, batteries, lady products. Perfect if you’ve missed something when packing. Although no paracetamol / ibuprofen notices and no other shop close by.
TUI
Special mention to TUI as well who run a very slick operation and made it extra special. The experience day (about 45 mins on the coach) was excellent and well organized with coaches always on time and just generally well run. The TUI staff were brilliant and would highly recommend the Lapland package with them.
