Great hotel in superb location and attentive staff
Writing this review still in my room so the memories are fresh and I don’t miss important details. And because this little hotel deserves all the praise, loved staying here ❤️
I needed a reasonably priced, centrally located in Gothic quarter hotel for 6 nights. After some research, I found this little gem.
It is sitting in a most cute little square with old church right next to it and lots of places to eat. There is always something going on - painters displaying their art, or acrobats doing their stunts, music, singing. You won’t be bored. And don’t worry about the noise, everything stops after certain time at night and during the day hotel’s balconies and windows are pretty much noise canceling and tinted !
Yes, you have to climb some stairs to the front desk only because there is a centuries old wall that is protected, would need to be destroyed to build a lift ( I will attach a photo that explains the situation).
A nice young lady Paola greeted and explained prices and rooms ( I had to stay three nights in one room than switch to another, not a problem).
Keep in mind they offer 10% off discount for paying cash. I wish I knew before, I’d have enough cash to take advantage and save some $$$
Tiny lift will take you to any floor from front desk area.
First room was on 8th floor ( room 84) and I fell in love with spacious patio with AMAZING views of the roof tops and church. I had picnics on that patio couple of times sipping wine and listening to birds on the tree which branches were close to my patio. There were green parrots ! They are noisy bodies. There was a seagull on a church’s rooftop that was guarding her nest and sometimes circling it and making funny, kitten like noises. The vibe was amazing. The room was clean, the sheets are white, crisp and mattress comfortable.
The rest three nights were on 3rd floor, no patio but two tiny balconies, much closer to the ground so noise level is higher but you feel like a part of square’s hustle and bustle. The only downside of the room - no table to sit down and have a bite. There is a couch, the room is bigger but needs a little coffee table. The shower cabin is also very tiny I can’t imagine a big guy fitting in there comfortably I could barely lean forward and wash my lower legs or feet.
This hotel provides free breakfast ! It is such a nice gesture since all other ( more expansive hotels) charge you. It’s nothing elaborate - yogurt, cereal, jams, butter and they bring you absolutely delicious warm croissant and a generous piece of freshest baguette enough starch to fill you up with energy for long walks around the city. So much appreciated.
Love the staff at front desk. Special shout out to Paola and Candela. You ladies made my stay so much more comfortable and accommodated with my needs.
If I am back to Barcelona, I’ll stay at this hotel.

Beautiful View, Very Average Stay
This was a last-minute booking, so I paid a lot of money for a single occupancy (double bed) room with a view.
The view is wonderful, and made up for the tiny room (I had to move the bed to fully open the balcony doors).
I expressed disappointment about the size of the room and was told that if I didn't like it, I could leave. WOW
Lift, tiny and slow.
Breakfast, okay.
On check out, I was about to book an Uber, I was told that the Uber couldn't get to the door, I asked how much a metered taxi would be and was told €35 approx. The hotel called a taxi for me, the meter said €34 at the airport, but the driver charged me €48.70, telling me it was a 'holiday'.
I called the hotel to get the details of the taxi company (to complain), and when I told them what happened, they said it had nothing to do with them. While I understand that is true, the hotel should be aware of the services they recommend and provide to their guests.
This could be a charming hotel. My stay was not charmed.
However, the view was lovely.

Great Location
This is a great hotel in a perfect location. It is 2 star so no frills but it is clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff are really helpful and the location is excellent. I would highly recommend if you want to be in the heart of Barcelona, great restaurants in the square as well as lots of other lovely places to eat within a stones throw. It's also great value for Barcelona when you take all the above into account.

Essentiality and cleanliness in the center of Barcelona
Hotel in old building in Plaça del Pi. Basic rooms but very clean. Five minutes from Las Ramblas and Liceu Metro Station, 10 minutes from Plaça de Catalunya. Convenient to visit the city on foot or by public transport.
Breakfast included with very good croissants and bread, jams, juices and hot drinks.

Excellent Location, Quiet Rooms.
LOCATION, location!
El Jardi is next to the Plaza Pi and within a five minute walk of the metro and many tourist spots. I stayed on the top floor with a balcony and view of the plaza. The first day I checked in on a Sunday there was music and laughter form the square, but when I closed the door ot the balcony, I couldn't hear any of it. So very nice. I slept great all three nights. The staff were friendly.
I did a Cook & Taste cooking class one night and it was an easy 6-minute walk to the class, which was espeically nice during the fast walk in hard rain on the way back at 9pm that night.
I hope to stay here the next time I visit Barcelona.
