A very nice place to stay and enjoy nature, good value for the money
A very nice hotel almost on the river Cerna. Clean, quiet, cosy,with big enough rooms and quite a lot of furniture and a maevelous view to the mountains and river. The bed was perfect to sleep for mother and child. Towels, sheets and garbage replaced every day if desired.
Comfort room.
A perfect playground with quite everything for kids, beside the river.
Big swings in the garden.
Very good breakfast, carefully arranged with lots of details, fresh season fruit and sweets, some homemade salads, jams or cakes. Every day something new along with the basics. Big variety, anyway.
The coffee instead very poor quality and the bar coffee machine not in use.
Very good proximity to swimming pools and restaurants and local shops, markets,bus station, taxi.
A perfect place for families.
They also have small pools inside, with thermal water.

Not a very good value for money
To start with, the hotel has several good points: central location, on the main street but still quiet. Large parking both in front and behind the building. Breakfast is buffet style with varied dishes, some of them quite unusual for a hotel (pistachio powder). However, the overall image is not totally satisfying. Towards the end, people coming late to breakfast didn't have much to choose from. At the end of Oct there was no heat given by the hotel but fortunately we had the AC in the room and we made our own heating system. No other facilities. Very soft mattress and pillows for me of course, others may find quite comfortable. Overall, I found the room too expensive for what it offered and for the area.

Vacation
I must begin by saying that the town Baile Herculane as a whole is looking worse and worse with each passing year. The place has a loooot of potential but as usual in Romania, the right measures will probably never be taken.
Hotel Golden Spirit looks amazing on the website, but as I noticed with most of the hotels/houses, the reality is a bit different.
Things I liked:
- even though we had a room(comfort room) on the opposite side of the river, the view of the mountains was magnificent.
- the room was decorated in good taste and with quality products;
-the shower was wonderful and the water got hot almost immediately.
- the bed very comfortable;
- the breakfast was very tasty and bountiful.
- the balcony was big and nice.
Things I didn’t like:
- the balcony didn’t have any chairs.
- the hotel is not clean;
- the compartment under the bathroom sink was very very dirty, full of used roles of toilet paper;
- the sink was dirty and also the shelves in the room;
- we were asked only on the first day if we needed the towels changed and the garbage emptied. It wasn’t necessary on the first day and we said no, but weren’t asked again.
I believe all these problems reside in the fact that there is lack of personnel everywhere and it is hard for only a few employees to do all the work.
All in all we had a great stay and after looking around Baile Herculane, we were happy with our decision.

Unprofessional and unfriendly personell
I have booked a room with 2 weeks before coming and when i came to the hotel the room was not like in pictures and the price was higher as firstly discussed. When we asked to see another room the personell asked if we are kidding or we make fun of them and they didn*t want to help even though we have travelled 1000 km for his holiday. We were put in the situation to seek on the moment new accomodation or to go back and give up our holiday. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, it is a disgrace.
Am rezervat o camera dubla cu 2 saptamani inainte de vacanta, iar la fata locului camera costa mai mult si conditiile erau altele decat in poza. Personalul care a fost rugat sa mai arate o camera, s-a exprimat in felul urmator "va bateti joc de noi?". Dupa o calatorie de 1000 de km a trebuit sa gasim in ultimul moment o alternativa de cazare pentru a nu anula vacanta. O asemenea atitudine fata de turisti este o bataie de joc pentru industria hoteliera.

The worst hotel experience i've ever had
I stayed here just for one night unfortunately during the 18'th birthday party some loud Romanian girl and i couldn't sleep all night. Bass was frightening. Bad bathroom, unconvenient bed and tasty food.
