Great stop for a cycling tour
We spent 2 days in this hotel as part of a cycling tour. They have a great setup for cyclists with ample bike storage space, a good restaurant with a good menu (maybe not as good for vegetarians) with lots of local specialties.
The rooms are very spacious. In October the outdoor pool was chilly, but it was good when we used the sauna (extra charge for it).
Breakfast is plentiful with lots of options.
The hotel itself is decorated with a lot of local art work that represents local places or mystical creatures or the sadness of a peasant's life.

Mid-August in Aritzo
We stayed at the restaurant of the hotel Sa Muvara in Aritzo for lunch in mid-August and were extremely satisfied. The environment is elegant and well maintained, the staff is courteous and attentive to the needs of customers.
We ordered the mid-August menu, several typical Sardinian dishes and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the ingredients. The flavors were authentic and genuine, just as we expected.
In addition, the presentation of the dishes was attention to detail, adding a touch of sophistication to the dining experience.
The price was more than reasonable considering the quality of the food and service offered.
In conclusion, we highly recommend the restaurant of the hotel Sa Muvara for a special lunch like that of mid-August, we will definitely be back!

Expectations disappointed
Intrigued by the fame of the hotel restaurant Sa Muvara, with my husband we booked for a dinner. The property looks nice and cozy as well as having a beautiful terrace with tables overlooking the mountains. Unfortunately the kitchen did not live up to expectations. The menu offering was modest. Good chestnut risotto, ordinary dish of tomato ravioli, stewed potatoes and seadas, bit the house wine. Although the waiters were solicitous and kind, it is regrettable to note that such a structure has insufficient and anonymous catering compared to the wealth of local products, with which a greater effort of imagination could be made.

Very well maintained and very personal
The hotel is in an elevated position at the edge of Aritzo. It somehow seems out of time. Like a hotel from the late 70s or early 80s, when the guest was still king. The owner family lives on site and is always a helpful contact person. They take care of questions and solve small problems immediately. All the facilities inside and outside are very well maintained. The garden is great. We actually thought the artificial turf was a good solution. This is probably the outlook in many places in the Mediterranean anyway due to the water shortage. The artificial turf was also cleaned regularly. The rooms are furnished in Sardinian style, very homely and the rooms in the junior suite category and above have an incredibly beautiful view. Most of the staff speak understandable English. Unfortunately, because of the abundance of greenery, there are naturally a lot of mosquitoes.
As already mentioned in other reviews, but quite typical for the country, the pool is not heated and the temperature is a challenge. Probably difficult for children.
The food at breakfast is typically Italian. There is raw and cooked ham and a selection of cheeses. Otherwise, the obligatory Italian cakes, jams, honey, etc. Eggs were freshly prepared on request. The fresh fruit from the hotel's own garden is worth mentioning. What is missing is something like sugar-free muesli, soy or oat milk.
At dinner, traditional Sardinian dishes were on the menu. Since the offering is always a matter of taste, I don't want to judge that. We went out to eat after two days because we prefer something a bit more modern. The menu on both days did not contain any vegan or vegetarian alternatives, apart from pasta with tomato sauce, and no salad. In this day and age, we also don't feel like always asking for extras that are standard elsewhere.
Unpleasant. Aritzo is not the Costa Smeralda! Cappuccino 3 EUR, water 3 EUR, cola, etc. 6 EUR, Aperol 10 EUR, Amari 8 EUR, cocktails 12 EUR, beer 4 EUR, most decent bottled wines over 30 EUR. The surcharge on what you pay in a bar or in restaurants outside the hotel is considerable. The evening menu costs 40 EUR. This seemed to us to be a fair price, especially as the evening menu usually includes dishes from the a la carte menu, which are naturally much more expensive overall.
Conclusion: We would recommend the Sa Muvara without reservation. The people in the hotel are just very nice. The young people in the service bring a lot of energy to the business. We therefore felt more than comfortable. Everyone has to answer the question of food for themselves.

A beautiful experience. Nature and relaxation. Highly recommended!
We had a great time and the staff were friendly and professional.
The cuisine is excellent and also plentiful; we could never finish everything.
The rooms are huge and always clean. The pool is gorgeous and in the middle of the trees. We will be back for sure!
