I could not recommend this hotel to anyone. I thought I paid in advance and when I arrived, my price doubled and included additional fees. I have a certificate for my dog as an emotional support dog. However, the hotel clerk on duty when I checked in let me know that South Carolina does not recognize emotional support dogs. However, when I was given paperwork to sign, nowhere on the paperwork did it indicate that emotional support dogs are not approved. I was especially confused because the paper I was shown listed three types of service categories my dog was , but did not state that any of these dogs were not permitted. My room smelled as though Lysol had been sprayed profusely. In addition, zzthe floor was sandy. The cover in my bed was also sandy. We were placed in the back of the hotel. People were hanging around there, smoking and the area smelled. When I came back from the beach, I saw that someone had placed a sign on the gate to the pool and it was closed. It was supposed to remain open until 11:00, yet it was 7:37 PM. Saturday night I was awakened by loud partying by my window and back door. Car alarms were going off. On Sunday, I discovered trash strewn about the area next to my room. I wanted to call the front desk during the night to complain about the noise, but the room phone didn’t work. In addition, my sister, who was staying with me, complained about sand on her sheet. When she removed the cover and top sheet, there were several stains on the bottom sheet. She was disgusted. We requested another set of sheets for her, but maintenance had to bring the new sheets because housekeeping had already left. The new pillowcase that she received, had mascara stains on it. When we complained about the filthy conditions, including pubic hair on the shower wall, housekeeping came in and put towels on the table, but didn’t put them in the bathroom. They emptied the kitchen garbage, but not the bathroom garbage. Finally, I also noted that the closet smelled like fish. It was disgusting! I had my cooler in there and when I took it out and opened it, there were bugs—fleas—in it!!! By the way, we purposely did not put the privacy sign on the room door so that it could be cleaned. Didn’t happen. Even though we complained, we were not offered another room and no one came to check on the phone. When I checked in and questioned the cost, since I thought I had already paid for the additional fees, I learned that breakfast was not included, not even a muffin, even though food was displayed on the coffee bar. I only learned this when I saw the food and coffee machine and asked if this is where breakfast was. I still don’t know why the display of food and beverages was set up on the counter. We had to go to the desk for coffee and toilet paper. When I checked out, I asked for an itemized receipt. The receipt I received did not include my total bill. I originally booked my room through Wyndham, but at the hotel, the clerk told me that the hotel is privately owned and that I booked through a third party. I said I booked through Wyndham! I though I was receiving a 19% discount for summer sale booking, but instead received a 15% discount. I spent double what was originally advertised for a miserable stay. This reflects badly on Wyndham.
