One night before a cruise, perfectly located for the port. On the night a great area for local cuisine within walking distance. Hotel was clean and comfortable, breakfast is at extra cost so we walked to a local cafe which was nice as it was just a buffet in hotel

Appalling
Would give -0 stars if I could. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, the lack of customer service is absolutely appalling.
We arrived at 23:00 and when we got to the room it was a tiny twin room when we had paid for a larger double room. There were used bottles of water on the table and a used toothbrush and toothpaste in the bathroom.
We took our bags and went back down to reception thinking it was a simple mistake, to be bluntly told “as you are a late check-in, this is the only room available in the whole hotel” we were told to make sure we come down tomorrow morning as early as possible to secure the double room we paid for. I wasn’t sure if they were joking? Why would we need to do this!
When we went down in the morning to get the key for the room we actually paid for, we were told we wouldn’t have a room until atleast after 3PM!!
I asked for a refund for that one night which was refused, no apology, and nothing offered as an alternative.
Service does not exist in this hotel. No toilet roll or towels provided in the room which you have to ask several times for before they get it, and there was no air con in the first room we were forced to stay in which was unbearably hot.
Don’t stay here as it’s not worth the price paid.

Disappointing
Experience that begins very badly from the moment we arrive: the Welcoming Hostess does not look at us while talking to us, never smiles, sighs, and does not hesitate to bitch at her colleague in front of the customers. An attitude that immediately creates an unpleasant atmosphere.
When we booked, we had chosen a “double room”, but we ended up in a room with two well separated single beds, which is disappointing.
Regarding the pool, for a 9-storey hotel that necessarily welcomes many guests, we were surprised by the lack of equipment: barely fifteen deckchairs available and a really tiny pool.

A Nice Hotel with Potential, but Needs Better Maintenance
I was quite nervous about our stay at SB Plaza Europa due to the mixed reviews I’d read beforehand. In the end, the experience was overall okay to good. We didn’t have a bad stay — nothing terrible happened — but nothing truly excellent stood out either.
The staff we interacted with were generally friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. However, I can also understand where many of the complaints come from. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated in a modern style, and our room was a great size for a family of four. The rooftop pool is a lovely bonus — although the lack of available sunbeds was disappointing, as it wouldn’t take much to add a few more.
Unfortunately, the hotel does not seem to be well maintained or cleaned to the standard it could be. Our room had a screw sticking out of the floor where a door stop had broken off (a safety issue, especially with kids), and I noticed a lot of dirt and general lack of cleanliness throughout the hotel. We also arrived to find no water in the room, and none of the water machines on any floor worked (except in the gym). A maintenance worker even told us they haven’t worked in ages, which begs the question — why hasn’t management addressed this ongoing issue?
We also had to ask reception for tea and coffee top-ups in our room, and there were broken chairs by the pool. I witnessed one staff member being fairly rude to another guest, which was disappointing to see.
All in all, this is a hotel with so much potential — great decor, good location just outside the busy city centre, and a spacious setup for families. But a bit more attention to maintenance, cleanliness, and customer feedback would make a big difference. It’s surprising that so many of the same complaints have been made in reviews over time and yet haven’t been resolved.

Would highly recommend.
Visited in July with my partner for a visit to Barcelona. We stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are very modern, clean and have all the amenities you need. They are a good size and having a fridge was really helpful for storing drinks as it was a very hot weekend.
The hotel itself is very modern and clear and has a luxurious feel to it.
The rooftop bar and pool was a lovely extra, albeit it does get busy so we didn't use it much. Limited sun beds (felt there could have been more sunbeds in the open space).
The pool was small but its nice to have somewhere to cool down and enjoy the view.
Location is great, if you dont like using public transport or are on a really tight budget then it isn't ideal as you need to be able to get into Barcelona as there isn't a lot around (just a few bars and a shopping mall). There is a grocery store across the room which was helpful! But if happy to use transport then highly recommend! We love using the metro as its easy to use and understand whatever the country! About 10 minutes walk from the hotel you've got the main station, use this to get to Espanya and then the city is your oyster as you can hop on and off the metro to see everything you want. After we had done a lot of the City we went on the metro to the other side of Barcelona to gorgeous beaches which are little more out of town.
The only challenge was when trying to get back to the hotel at night as the last train from Espanya stopped I think about 10ish so if that happens you'll need a taxi but that was less than 10 euro. If happy to metro or even bus, then don't let the location bother you as its really easy and means you are saving some money staying out of the hustle and bustle.
The staff were really helpful when we arrived, kept hold of our luggage and gave us a map showing us where everything is!
